Forum of Rulers and Traditional Leaders of Africa
The FSLTA was initiated by the late Nelson Mandela, President of the Federal Republic of South Africa and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, and created at a first meeting of Kings, Sultans, Cheicks, Princes and traditional chiefs in Benghazi, Libya, in 2008, by the late Muammar Gaddafi, Libyan Leader.
Since 2013, His Excellency Mr Teodoro Obiang Nguema, President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, who presides over the destiny of the FSLTA, has been assisted in this noble mission by illustrious Kings, Sultants, Cheiks and Traditional Chiefs. Their experience and ancestral knowledge make a significant contribution to the development and prosperity of Africa.
Indeed, by integrating our customs and cultural values into the process of industrial unification and development, traditional legitimacies can play a key role in preserving the environment, promoting innovation, transforming at least 50% of our natural resources on the continent, and creating sustainable jobs for local communities. Their unique perspectives can help shape a more holistic and inclusive approach to industrial development in Africa, which takes into account both economic imperatives and social and cultural aspects.
Africa, the cradle of humanity, has all the resources needed to build an industrial and sustainable future on the continent.
Late Nelson Mandela
Nelson Mandela was committed to Africa's development, advocating unity and collaboration between African nations. He worked for the creation of the African Union, aimed at strengthening ties between the countries of the continent and promoting peace, prosperity and sustainable development. Mandela firmly believed in Africa's ability to overcome challenges and prosper, and worked tirelessly to encourage cooperation and solidarity between African nations. His commitment to the development of Africa and the African Union continues to inspire present and future generations to pursue his efforts for a united and prosperous continent.

Late Mouammar Kadhafi
S.E.M Teodoro Obiang
Ex-President of the Republic of Libya
President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea
To date, President Teodoro Obiang has initiated several actions in favor of African unity. These include his active participation in African Union summits and his support for cooperation between countries on the continent. He has also promoted initiatives aimed at strengthening economic, political and cultural ties between nations. He has also encouraged the peaceful resolution of conflicts and solidarity between different peoples. Thanks to his efforts, African unity has become a priority for Equatorial Guinea's foreign policy. His commitment to this cause is an example of leadership and vision for the future of Africa. This is also what has motivated his actions as Honorary President since 2013, as evidenced by the work underway to restructure the FSLTA.
Libyan leader Gaddafi created the Forum of Rulers and Traditional Leaders of Africa with the idea of promoting cooperation and solidarity between African leaders. He wanted to strengthen ties between the continent's different nations and encourage constructive dialogue to resolve common problems. The forum also aimed to promote traditional African values and strengthen the continent's unity in the face of international challenges. Gaddafi believed in the importance of ancestral traditions and institutions in guiding Africa's development and strengthening its position in the world. His aim was to create a space where traditional leaders could exchange ideas, propose solutions and contribute to building a prosperous future for Africa.
